A review of “of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck

If people still read an old book, then they find something connected to their life and emotions. This particular book was written in 1937 (during recession time of US) and gained its author everlasting respect and made him inseparable part of world literature heritage. I like this kind of short and sharp works. There are people with wishes and hopes, there are people without any hope for future, and people with full of hatred that impede the characters to fulfill their missions. Let me brake it down, hardly trying not to spill more spoilers than indicated in book description. George loses many of his life opportunities because of his friend and the main reason for that is George believes he can find another job, another opportunity, but he cannot find another friend like Lennie. He is hundred percentage sure about how pure Lennie’s heart is, and he knows that if Lennie does any harm to anything, it is not because he meant it, all unfortunate series have happened unintentionally. Review of “The Guest Cat” by Takashi Hiraide

(my review has some spoilers) Coming from childhood, I have strong affection of cats. It has been a while I didn’t see a book about cats when I discovered “The Guest Cat” by Takashi Hiraide. A pair of cat eyes glows on the cover. First thing I thought was “It must be on my shelves”. Then I read the description, wife and husband has been in a condition that they both work from home and their relationship so much exhausted that they have no more common topics to talk. I’m no expert of classical music, but I can remember that Beethoven first named Appassionata something else, because he thought this music can encourage some other feelings. If ...

My recent readings for first quarter of 2020

Economically ineffective year 2020 affected majority of the people globally and changed their life style mainly leaving them unemployed. That affected me as well, and I lost my job for one month. That has urged me to convert “economically ineffective” period to “productive for personal development” one. Although I thought it is going to be more than a month (that was what I hoped for just only my personal improvement) it ended quite soon, considering the fact I wasted most of it playing computer games or perusing social media. The activities of this period are the content of maybe some other post. My plans included to recover my reading hobby as well, so the first day of so-called “quarantine” I finished “ A man’s search of meaning ” by Victor Frankl which I started half a year ago, when Belgian traveler gifted it to me in Azerbaijani language. I could express neither my preference to reading self-chosen books (or at least recommended) nor my dislike of translated books. Instead, I acc...
